About

Biography

I am currently a DPhil student at the University of Oxford. I am interested in evolutionary developmental biology (evo-devo), and particularly in using mathematics and modelling to characterise developmental systems and explain the evolution of form and diversity. For my DPhil work I am studying the evolvability of vertebrate segmentation, under the supervision of Dr Berta Verd and Prof Ruth Baker. This involves a combination of computational modelling using Julia, and experimental work characterising the segmentation clocks of two non-model species of fish, Astatotilapia calliptera and Rhamphochromis sp. ‘chilingali’.

Interests

Outside of my studies, I am very interested in Lepidoptera (particularly micro-moths), and so might devote some space on this website to moth-related content in the future.
